I need help organizing

Our Tenant Organizing section is a good introduction to what it means to organize for cheaper, more fair or simply better housing. The links below are to groups which can give you ideas and help you develop a stronger plan, tenant association or partnership.

Tenant Organizing and Advocacy Groups
These groups can help you interact with your landlord, housing court, and the legal system in general, as well as connect you with other key groups and individuals.

Community Development Corporations (CDCs)
CDCs work to build communities - including the people and the common bonds that define community along with the buildings themselves. Some CDCs are involved with organizing too - so talk to one in your area to see if they can either help you get started or refer you to someone else who can.

Community Action Programs (CAPs)
Community Action Associations (CAAs) and Programs (CAPs) were set up 30 years ago by the federal government to fight poverty through self-sufficiency. Because one of there major functions is advocacy - along with emergency crisis assistance, and nutritional and educational aid - talk to the CAP nearest you about your situation to see what help they can provide.
