Landlord’s
name
Dear
Landlord:
We
are 2 families working together as a tenant association supported by City
Life/Vida Urbana. You have brought
eviction action against us in court.
Hearings are now scheduled for January 13, 2000. We are writing to you to urge you to end
your attempts to evict us and negotiate a solution which preserves our homes as
affordable housing.
Our understanding from you is that you are evicting
us because you want to sell the building to xxxx, who is developing the
artists’ condos which surround our duplex.
You have told us that his plans are to tear down the building.
We don’t want to see this happen. These are our homes of many years. We have taken good care of the
building. Our families are here. This is our community. We don’t want to be forced out.
We know that you have personal problems of your own
that lead you to want to sell. We are
sympathetic to these problems. But
forcing us from our homes is not the answer.
If you want to sell the building, we urge you to consider selling to a
non-profit which could keep the building as affordable housing. In any case, please negotiate with us rather
than seek an eviction.
If you want to contact us, you can reach us at City
Life/Vida Urbana at 524-3541.
Sincerely,
cc.
